What is Full-Spectrum CBD Oil vs. CBD Isolate

Full Spectrum vs. CBD Isolate

What does full-spectrum CBD oil mean? What does CBD isolate oil mean?

These are common and important questions. First, let’s talk about what full-spectrum CBD oil is. Full-spectrum CBD contains cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and other medicinal properties. All of these things are equally as important as the cannabinoid commonly known as CBD and these properties will help you achieve the results you are looking for in CBD oil.

CBD (Cannabidiol) Oil

Will It Get Me High?

Full-spectrum oil does contain some THC, which is the cannabinoid responsible for the psychoactive “high.” It, however, cannot contain more than 0.3% THC per law in the United States. This is nowhere near the amount it takes to get someone high. High-THC strains sometimes have a THC content of 30%.

What Is CBD Isolate?

CBD isolate oils have had all of their additional properties besides CBD removed. They don’t have flavonoids, terpenes, cannabinoids, or other properties. Just CBD. Which is fine, CBD is fantastic on its own! It still helps so many people looking for relief.

So, Which One Should I Take?

If are sensitive to THC, live in a THC-illegal state, or work in a place that forbids THC you might want to opt for a CBD isolate. This is because of the THC present in the oil. Small amounts of THC have been able to trigger positive drug tests in the past. Though this isn’t a common occurrence, it has happened so take that into consideration when making your choice.

I don’t care about a drug test. I am in a legal state and I just want relief.

Perfect! Opt for a full-spectrum oil. The properties within full-spectrum CBD oils work alongside CBD to allow for optimum performance in the body. There are more than 100 different cannabinoids within the hemp plant. They all serve an awesome purpose in aiding your body  towards homeostasis. Not to mention terpenes, which are not only responsible for the aromatic properties in the cannabis plant, but have been shown to provide anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Flavonoids which are also present in full-spectrum oil not only provide protection for the plant on a cellular level, but have been cited with having antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiallergic properties.

Hopefully this guide has helped you to make a well thought-out choice when it comes to your CBD oil. If you have any additional questions, you can always contact Legends Health and we will try to serve your needs as appropriately as possible.

The Endocannabinoid System In The Body

The Endocannabinoid System

Man on beach

I was told in high school by a science teacher that the reason smoking cannabis made you high was because it depletes oxygen from the brain. I believed her. Why wouldn’t I have? She was a science teacher so it’s settled, right?

Not really. There is a lot of misinformation surrounding cannabis, even among professionals, though we have evidence to prove its effectiveness

Then why does cannabis make people high? What does cannabis do for the human body?

Interestingly, our body has an entire system dedicated to receiving cannabinoids, which are molecular compounds found in the cannabis plant. This system is called the endocannabinoid system. THC (the compound responsible for the “high”) is a cannabinoid, and arguably the most well-known one, but it isn’t the only one.

Many Different Cannabinoids Exist

There are many different cannabinoids in addition to THC. CBD, THCA, CBDA, and CBN just to name a few.

When cannabinoids enter the human body they bind to the receptors found in the endocannabinoid system. The cannabinoids then manipulate the endocannabinoid system (ECS) to restore homeostasis within the body. There are two different types of receptors, CB1 and CB2. CB1 receptors are found mainly within the brain and the nervous system, controlling functions like pain, mood, motor function, and more. CB2 receptors are found on the cells of our immune system.

Each cannabinoid fits a receptor perfectly. Except for CBD that is. CBD does not fit either the CB1 or CB2 receptor perfectly, though it’s been shown that it still has powerful medicinal benefits and a purpose within the endocannabinoid system.

What Conditions Can Improve with Cannabis Usage?

Because the endocannabinoid system has so many receptors throughout the body, it can help a number of conditions. It’s been shown to help with fibromyalgia, endometriosis, nausea, and Parkinson’s disease to name a few. There have been no reported overdoses with using pure cannabis by itself in any form. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for many pharmaceuticals available on the market today.

I Want To Try Cannabis For My Condition. Is It Legal For Me?

Medicinal cannabis is legal in 33 United States as well as being recreational in 11.  Check if your state is a medicinally legal state. Then, find a qualified doctor willing to talk to you about trying medicinal cannabis. There are many ways to locate doctors who advocate for medical cannabis use. Your doctor can write you a recommendation to get your medical cannabis card. Once you have applied for and received your card, you can begin to purchase your medicine from one of your states’ approved medical dispensaries or find a caregiver who will grow your medicine for you.

Additionally, CBD products can be purchased online in all 50 states, without needing your medical card. CBD is a top choice for so many because it will not get you high. All CBD products manufactured and sold in the US must contain less than 0.3% THC, per the Farm Bill of 2018, which is not enough to get a person high. CBD products can be taken in many different forms including topicals to apply directly to the skin for chronic pain or oils that can be taken sublingually. Legends Health even offers CBD in a capsule form combined with curcumin for extra anti-inflammatory benefits.
